Paramount Prince put on a perfect performance in Saturday’s $150,000 Dominion Day Stakes (G3) at Woodbine.

Sent off as the second choice in the event for 4-year-olds and up, the 2023 King’s Plate winner proved to be much the best against his eight rivals in the 1 1/8-mile main track tilt.

It was the fifth win, to go along with a pair of seconds and three thirds from 11 starts for the son of Shannondoe Farm’s Society’s Chairman and he’s now earned $749,810. Bred in Ontario by Erika Rusnak, Paramount Prince, owned by Gary Barber and Mike Langlois, was a $21,000 purchase at the 2021 CTHS sale.

Paramount Prince was sent straight to the front by regular rider Patrick Husbands and led Stanley House by two lengths through an opening quarter in :24.83, as Collective Force and Tyson, last year’s Dominion Day victor, sat third and fourth, respectively.

The Mark Casse trainee was a length in front of Stanley House through a half in :49.47, as Husbands and the 4-year-old son of Society’s Chairman-Platinum Steel played catch-us-if-you-can as they headed into the turn for home.

Clear by 4 ½ lengths at the stretch call, Paramount Prince glided to a 3 ¾-length triumph in a time of 1:49.35. A game Stanley House held second, while longshot Wicked Django was third and Palazzi fourth.

“He’s all speed, you know?” said Husbands. “And he has a very high cruising speed. As long as you don’t play with him, he will give you everything.

“Even in the morning, he has so much fun. He’s very keen and happy.”
And talented.

“He’s just getting better and better,” praised Husbands.
