Dynamic Sky is bred on the highly successful Pulpit/Mr. Prospector cross similar to champion sire Tapit and Horse of the Year California Chrome, etc.
Tapit is inbred to Mr. Prospector at 3×4 and has sired nearly 40 stakes winners out of mares showing a return of that influence. With Dynamic Sky showing this pattern at 4×4 there should be no fear of sending Mr. Prospector-influenced mares his way. Mares from the Fappiano, Carson City and Seeking the Gold branches are especially interesting.
Pulpit and his sons have combined to sire at over 30 stakes winners out of mares showing the Fappiano influence. Over one third of these are by Dynamic Sky’s sire, Sky Mesa, including two of his Grade 1 winners – General Quarters (dam by Unbridled’s Song) and Sky Diva (Unbridled). Sky Mesa has also sired stakes winners out of mares Victory Gallop, Quiet American and the Unbridled stallions Anees and Broken Vow. This puts daughters of Ontario’s top Unbridled son, the late Niigon, squarely in play for Dynamic Sky.
Sky Mesa, has sired a trio of stakes winners out of daughters and granddaughters of Carson City, including G2 winner Beethoven. Tapit is the sire of three other (Graded) stakes winners carrying the Carson City influence, with G1 winner Pretty City Dancer among them.
Pulpit and Seeking the Gold have combined in the pedigrees of at least seven stakes winners, including Pulpit’s last Grade 1 winner, Lord Nelson. Four of the others are by Sky Mesa. That group includes stakes winners out of mares by Cape Town, Petionville and Mutakddim. Daughters of the Ontario-based Seeking the Gold son Where’s the Ring should also go well with Dynamic Sky.
Sky Mesa over Deputy Minister has produced at least five stakes winners, three of those out of daughters of Silver Deputy. Mares by the Ontario-based Silver Deputy son Badge of Silver hold high promise for Sky Mesa as do mares by Wilko, a son of Awesome Again, who is bred on a version of the Deputy Minister/Mr. Prospector cross that produced Silver Deputy.
Pulpit and Storm Cat are found together in the pedigrees of over 45 stakes winners, seven of them at the Grade 1 level. Sky Mesa is the sire of stakes winners out of mares by the Storm Cat sons Giant’s Causeway, Tale of the Cat, Tabasco Cat and Catienus. Ontario sources of Storm Cat include Old Forester by Forestry) and Giant Gizmo (by Giant’s Causeway).
Forestry is out of a mare by Pleasant Colony, an influence that may be worth targeting for Dynamic Sky. From just five starters out of daughters of Pleasant Colony, Sky Mesa has sired a pair of stakes winners, including G2 winner Storm Mesa. Pleasant Colony is also the second dam of the additional Sky Mesa stakes winner Xaverian. There are at least 13 total stakes winners (8 graded) showing Pulpit on the top side of the pedigree and Pleasant Colony on the bottom.
Xaverian is out of a mare by Dynaformer and is an example of Sky Mesa’s prowess with the Roberto influence. There are at least seven other stakes winners by Sky Mesa out of dams showing Roberto and there are among the at least 34 stakes winner (20 graded) bred on some form of the Pulpit/Roberto cross.
Mares showing Broad Brush are also interesting for Dynamic Sky. Sky Mesa is the sire of a pair of graded winners from 11 starters out of Broad Brush daughters. Pulpit and four other stallions from his male line have combined to sire 10 additional stakes winners with Broad Brush-influenced dams. Broad Brush survives in North American pedigrees primarily through his son Include.
