April 8, 2019 – Shannondoe Farm bred Day of Glory scored an impressive Maiden victory at the Royal Windsor meeting. The chestnut colt races for Mrs. John Magnier, Mr. Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith, three principals in the vast Coolmore international breeding operation. He was purchased for $300,000 out of the South Point Sales consignment at the 2017 Saratoga Selected Yearling sale.
Days of Glory, who was 4 1/2-lengths second to the exciting Dubai Warrior (GB) over a mile at Chelmsford in November proved a prompt favorite in his 2019 debut. The colt was restrained behind the early leaders, gained the lead with 150 yards remaining and asserted himself down the straight despite still looking green. He tallied by two lengths from Will of Iron (GB).

The Ontario-bred Days of Glory is by the late, great Triple Crown sire Scat Daddy out of the winning Thunder Gulch daughter Charming Thunder, both familiar sires to the Coolmore group. Scat Daddy won the Florida Derby (G1) for a partnership that included Mr. Tabor & Mr. Smith and was then developed into an important sire at Ashford Stud, Coolmore’s North American stallion station. Thunder Gulch also stood at Ashford following a stellar racing career that included victories in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes in the colors of Mr. Tabor.
