On July 24 at Woodbine, the debutante Fleetway was able to dictate the pace before repelling several challengers in the lane to win a grassy Maiden Special at Woodbine.

Breaking on top, the gray was lightly pressured through the first quarter-mile, but received a stiffer challenge from For U Ruth on the bend. Shaking that one off into the stretch, Fleetway saw off another stern test from fellow firster Woodbridge, beating back that one’s bid for a one-length success.
Fleetway is a daughter of first crop sire Creative Cause and was bred by Shannondoe Farm out of the Afleet Alex mare Joyce Jenkins. Consigned by South Point Sales Agency, the grey/roan miss sold to the John C. Oxley stable for $110,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton July. She has a yearling half-sister by Scat Daddy with South Point at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select sale.
